Mount Saint Vincent University seeks applicants or nominations for a Tier II Canada Research Chair in the area of Health Communication. Further information on the Canada Research Chairs program can be found at www.chairs.gc.ca. This is a tenure-track position, with the home department to be determined in alignment with the candidate's academic and scholarly background, and is expected to commence in fall 2026.
As a university requirement, the candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent in a health science or social science field. The successful candidate will have evidence of an original and dynamic research program in health communication, a strong record of publication, a commitment to mentoring students, and will be expected to ensure funding success via application to Tri-Council and other agencies. The candidate for the Tier II CRC Chair will be an excellent emerging researcher who has developed an innovative program of research in health communication. We are particularly interested in inviting applicants who work with historically underserved populations to advance health equity. The candidate will be engaged in the area(s) of health communication research, knowledge mobilization, knowledge translation, and/or implementation science.
This appointment of the Tier II Chair will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending upon qualifications. Workload, salary, and benefits are in accordance with the CRC appointment and the University's Collective Agreement with the Faculty Association. This position is subject to approval by the CRC Secretariat and final University budgetary approval. Please note that applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree (and where career breaks exist, such as maternity, parental or extended sick leave, clinical training, etc.) may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process.
To meet the criteria for Tier 2 Canada Research Chairs, the selected candidate will:
• be excellent emerging world-class researchers who have demonstrated particular research creativity;
• have demonstrated the potential to achieve international recognition in their fields in the next five to ten years;
• as chairholders, have the potential to attract, develop and retain excellent trainees, students and future researchers; and
• be proposing an original, innovative research program of high quality.
Applicants should submit: a curriculum vitae; a brief outline of a program of research, a statement outlining the applicant's background, experience, and research accomplishments; a short statement of experience and plans for equity, inclusion, and diversity in a university teaching and research environment; and the names and contact information of three references (who will not be contacted without permission). All applicants will be required to return a Self-Identification Questionnaire Form to the University Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility Advisor.
