Tenure-Track, Assistant or Associate Professor in the School of Criminal Justice

Nipissing University

The School of Criminal Justice in the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies at Nipissing University invites applications for a Tenure Track, Assistant or Associate Professor. This position is located in North Bay, Ontario and will commence July 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree (in criminal justice, criminology, social work, or health sciences) and have a research agenda focused on one or more of the following areas of specialization: policing (northern, remote, or historically disadvantaged communities), probation or parole (northern, remote, or historically disadvantaged communities), mental health or community support and intervention. Experience working with or within the criminal justice system, the ability to communicate in French or an Indigenous language, and a strong understanding of quantitative methods and methodologies will be considered significant assets. Demonstrated promise for excellence in research and undergraduate teaching in the criminal justice field is required.

The new hire will expand the school’s applied focus and ability to address and assess emerging subfields of interest and continue to develop meaningful collaborations with institutional and professional colleagues.

The School of Criminal Justice is part of the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies at Nipissing University, and includes the following streams: Criminology, Criminal Justice Studies, Policing, and Corrections.
