Teaching Scholar Track Position in Finance

The Ivey Business School at Western University invites applications for a probationary Teaching Scholar (TS) appointment in Finance, effective July 2025, though alternate dates may be arranged. This probationary appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, depending on the qualifications. Appointment made at the rank of Assistant Professor will lead to consideration of continuing status and promotion to Associate Professor, TS at the end of the probationary period (maximum 6 years). Appointments made at the rank of Associate Professor will lead to consideration of continuing status at the end of the probationary period (maximum 3 years).
Applicants for a probationary appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor must have, or be near completion of, a PhD degree in Finance or a related field. Applicants for a probationary appointment at the rank of Associate must have a PhD degree in Finance or a related field. Additional postgraduate training in the field of Education will be an asset. The candidate should be an emerging or established teaching scholar with a keen interest in further developing the scholarship of teaching and learning. Priority of consideration will be given to candidates who have an outstanding track record of classroom teaching and teaching innovations.
The successful candidate is expected to be able to teach a variety of finance courses in all degree programs offered at the School. The candidate might be assigned to teach the required finance core and/or electives in such topics as Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management, Derivatives, Value Investing, Fintech, M&A, and Private Equity. The candidate is also expected to engage in scholarly activities that may include (but are not limited to) curriculum development for online classes and evaluation, presentations and publications on teaching technology or pedagogy, research on innovative teaching technology, educational leadership, or other research on education.
