Job Summary
The School of Computing is located within the Faculty of Business and Computing and includes programs in the areas of Computing Science and Computer Information Systems. Program delivery includes both online and face to face format. We place high priority on student involvement in research and scholarly activities, and we encourage creation of opportunities for experiential learning.

The School of Computing invites applications for a limited term 12-month appointment to the position of Instructor. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the areas of Computing Science and Computer Information Systems.

The successful candidate will teach a base load of 6 undergraduate courses, and their service will focus on curriculum development and revisions. Candidates are expected to be able to teach across a wide range of courses across all levels, and are expected to be able to teach most of the following areas, as needs of the area require:
• Introductory Programming
• Software Engineering
• Databases
• System Analysis and Design
• Information Security
• Theoretical Computing

Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.

We seek applicants who share our passion for, and commitment to, excellence in undergraduate teaching in a student-centered environment, who successfully integrate their scholarship into their teaching.
Applicants must have exceptional communication and teaching skills; a demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level; and demonstrable ability to develop experiential and applied research opportunities for students. An ability to teach across traditional disciplinary boundaries or deliver courses in community settings would be an asset.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level and possess strong communication, leadership, and administrative skills. The successful applicant must be able to incorporate or reflect Indigenous perspectives or ways of teaching and learning into their curriculum.

As a teaching-oriented institution and department, we are seeking a collegial, energetic, and innovative individual who has successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level and who communicates effectively with students both in and out of the classroom; is able to instruct across a range of the undergraduate courses offered by the department; and can develop new and innovative courses.
Experience and interest in developing experiential learning opportunities, including internships, study abroad and co-curricular activities is highly desirable. Demonstrable experience in technology-supported teaching (e.g. hybrid, on-line, experiential, and computer-assisted learning) would be an asset. The successful candidate will show aptitude for working in team situations; an interest in innovative inter-disciplinary teaching.

Applicants will have a demonstrable record of scholarship in their field and be able to integrate their research into experiential learning opportunities for students. The successful applicant will be expected to develop innovative and internationally recognized research programs and to obtain external funding.

The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in departmental activities, service, events, and initiatives. A commitment to an ongoing program of professional development is required.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrable ability to collaborate/interact effectively with external bodies or agencies. We particularly encourage applications from Indigenous scholars or teachers or researchers with experience of racialization or colonization.

Qualifications
The minimum requirement for this position is a PhD in Computing Science from a well-recognized university, or under exceptional circumstances a MSc in Computing Science or a closely related field. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is also required. Flexibility, industry expertise, currency in topic area, and evidence of scholarly activities are also required.
