The Department of Criminology at Saint Mary’s University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin on July 1, 2025. The Department seeks candidates who can teach Quantitative Research Methods in Criminology. Preference will be given to candidates who research in the area of corporate crime, prisons/carceral studies, green criminology, or crimmigration.

In support of the University’s Employment Equity Program and commitment to a representative workforce, preference will be given to candidates that self-identify as a member of a visible minority/racialized group.

Experience and Education Requirements

Applicants should hold a completed or nearly completed Ph.D. in Criminology or a related field. Candidates should be able to demonstrate strength in teaching and research. Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to academic service and community engagement. Teaching loads, employee benefits, and salaries are governed by the Saint Mary’s University Collective Agreement.

Applicants should submit an application package consisting of the following six items only, merged into one PDF: 1) a cover letter addressing the criteria laid out above; 2) a curriculum vitae; 3) one example of recent scholarly writing; 4) unofficial graduate school transcripts; 5) the names and contact information for three referees; and 6) a copy of a syllabus for a Quantitative Methods Course you have taught or a draft syllabus if you have not previously taught this course.
