Assistant Professor in Food and Human Nutritional Sciences

University of Manitoba

The Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences invites applications for a full-time probationary tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank, commencing September 1, 2025, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Exceptional candidates will be considered with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below:

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:
Applicants must possess 1) a Ph.D. in Human Nutritional Sciences/Foods and Nutrition (or a related discipline), 2) the eligibility for registration with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba 3) relevant research experience in applied human nutrition and 4) excellent oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate the potential to develop a competitive externally funded research program (including supervision of graduate students) and develop working relationships with appropriate stakeholder groups, such as industry, government or non-government agencies. Additionally, they must demonstrate the potential to develop an effective teaching program at both the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as promote the mission and objectives of the department, faculty and university. The position will be weighted at approximately 45% teaching, 40% research and 15% service/outreach.

The Department currently has 20 full time tenured and tenure-track faculty members and 4 Instructors and offers a full range of both undergraduate and graduate programs in Food Science and Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
